Williamson County Schools is earning national recognition for its celebration of student achievement.
This week, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) presented the WCS Communications Department with a 2016 Golden Achievement Award for the district’s student recognition program called Academic All-Stars.
Created in 2010, the purpose of the Academic All-Stars award program is to celebrate students who’ve shown a commitment to excellence in the classroom, exhibit a positive attitude and are kind to others. Winners are chosen by their principals and receive a gift bag and a framed certificate.
“When we first came up with the program, we wanted to find a way to honor students who may not have always had success in school but are always working hard and never give up,” said WCS Assistant Communications Director Cory Mason. “The Academic All-Star program does just that. For many winners, the award is a confidence builder that serves as proof that their hard work is paying off.”
