oShocked. That’s how fifth grader Bess Karner says she felt after learning she had been named Oak View Elementary School’s Academic All-Star.
It’s an honor Principal Dr. Tom Morris says Bess deserves.
“Bess possesses all of the traits required for this recognition,” said Morris. “She exhibits a positive attitude at all times and takes on all tasks with a heartfelt smile. Bess has formed many friendships with her peers, and she is a true leader in the classroom.”
Bess has attended Oak View since kindergarten and says the teachers are nice and extremely helpful. Her favorite subject is social studies because she enjoys learning about history, but Bess also likes to read.
Outside of school, Bess spends much of her time competing in sports like basketball and soccer.
“Soccer is my favorite sport,” said Bess. “I’ve been playing since I was really little.”
As for the future, Bess says she’d love to be a professional soccer player or a teacher. Either way, those who know her say Bess’ commitment to excellence will take her far in life.
“Bess always puts forth her best effort,” said Morris. “She is an exceptional person.”
