Academic All-Star – Nolensville Elementary

Published March 18, 2016

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Out of all of the students at Nolensville Elementary School, fifth grader Jake Friendenberger never thought he would be chosen as NES’s Academic All-Star for the 2015-16 school year.

Always aiming to do his best, administrators say Jake is the perfect student for this award.

“Jake was selected because of his relentless effort in everything he does,” said NES Principal Paula Waits. “Jake has a quiet demeanor, but that doesn’t hinder him from consistently going above and beyond. With such a positive attitude and outlook on life, Jake often leads by example and is a great role model for his peers.”

Jake says he loves Nolensville Elementary and all of the teachers and students inside the school. His favorite subject is science.

“I like to do experiments and stuff,” Jake said. “We have been studying the tectonic plates and how the Earth is all together in one continent.”

Outside of school, Jake likes to have fun with friends. He is also very involved with hockey, which happens to be his favorite sport. If he’s not at the hockey rink, there’s a good chance you’ll find him at home playing video games.

Although winning the Academic All-Star was an unexpected surprise, it’s a moment Jake says he’ll remember for a long time to come.

“It feels very overwhelming and exciting,” said Jake. “I didn’t think I’d get picked for this because there are a lot of kids in this school.”
