Published February 25, 2016

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Nine-year-old Charla Webb is known around Lipscomb Elementary School as a wonderful student who possesses an excellent work ethic.

So when it came time to select an Academic All-Star, Charla was at the top of the list.

“Charla’s attitude toward school and learning is exceptional,” said LES teachers DeAnn Smith and Mollie Nichols. “She is delighted when she masters a concept, and she has discovered the love of reading. She is a kind friend, a dedicated student and she embodies what it means to be a Lipscomb Bear.”

Charla began attending Lipscomb Elementary in second grade. She says she loves the teachers at LES, and she enjoys the time she spends in specials like library and life skills.

“The teachers here are really nice to everyone,” said Charla. “My favorite subject is math because it’s fun to do and it’s easy.”

Outside of school, Charla likes to play basketball and spend time outside.

Although she’s not yet sure what she wants to be when she grows up, Charla’s teachers say she’s poised for greatness no matter what she chooses.

“Charla is a true Academic All-Star,” said Smith and Nichols. “Not only does she give it her all in the classroom each day by challenging herself and giving her personal best, but she also has outstanding character.”
