Academic All-Star – College Grove Elementary

Published April 28, 2016

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Teachers say College Grove Elementary School fifth grader Daniel Lamb is a model student who works hard and helps others in his class.

That’s why teachers and administrators selected him as the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2015-16 school year.

“Daniel Lamb is a well-deserving student who serves as an excellent role model at College Grove Elementary,” said CGES teacher Shelby Smith. “He has a great work ethic when it comes to his academic responsibilities and always demonstrates a positive attitude.”

Daniel has attended College Grove since kindergarten and says there’s a lot to love about the school.

“Everything,” said Daniel. “The teachers are good. If you don’t know anything, they teach you how to do it. If you don’t understand the lesson, they take their time and teach you how.”

As an active member of Williamson County’s 4-H Livestock Project, Daniel’s favorite past-time activity has won him several awards.

“I show dairy cattle, steers, pigs and sheep,” said Daniel. “You can only start while you’re in fourth grade, so I’ve only been doing it for two years now but I like it.”

Inspired by his father, Daniel says he wants to be a farmer when he grows up.

As his time at College Grove comes to an end, teachers there say they’ve been fortunate to have taught such an outstanding young man.

“Daniel treats everyone he meets with respect,” said Smith. “We are so proud to honor Daniel with the Williamson County Academic All-Star Award.”
