Youth Philanthropy in Motion is Back

Published April 23, 2015

Think non-profit meets shark tank over one extraordinary week in July this summer. Once again, WCS will offer an outstanding summer program for WCS rising juniors and seniors created by two of the 2013 WCS Ambassadors.

This year, Youth Philanthropy in Motion brings Lipscomb University, the United Way, Graceworks, Siloam Family Health Center, Williamson County Literacy Council, CASA of Williamson County, T-615 and Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue as participants for a week-long program aimed at young social entrepreneurs.

The program is free, and there are 20 student positions of opportunity available this summer.

Click here to view the application. Applications are due May 15 to Dr. Deb Enright, WCS Community Engagement and Development via email at deborah.enright@wcs.edu or c/o Williamson County Schools, 1320 West Main Street, Franklin, TN 37064

Program highlights include:

  • Students will be assigned to a team to work with one of four agencies to create an alternative funding source in the form of a program, product, or service that the agency can incorporate into its funding portfolio.
  • Students will spend time on the campus of Lipscomb University and the Nashville Entrepreneur Center with Rob Touchstone, Lipscomb University Director of Missional Entrepreneurship and Co-Founder of The Well Coffeehouses, and Jerry Stubblefield, Lipscomb’s Entrepreneur in Residence.
  • Each team will present their idea in a competitive arena to a panel of philanthropic business leaders who will evaluate the viability and sustainability of their alternative-funding source. Prizes will be awarded.
