Dozens of Williamson County graduates who are preparing to enter the military were recognized at the annual Military Signing Ceremony in Franklin on May 5.
“This is a tribute to our soon-to-be graduates for their courage and willingness to stand on the front line,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney, himself a Marine veteran. “We are all safer because of these young men and women who volunteer to defend this great country. It’s people like them who make a difference.”
More than 50 students who have chosen military careers, either by signing on for active service, being accepted into one of the country’s military academies or in the reserve, were on hand for this special ceremony. Many of them were joined by friends and family as the district celebrated their decision to serve their country.
The students were awarded an honorary certificate by Williamson County School Board members.
