Violins, Violas, Cellos and More!

Published August 19, 2014

The WCS School Age Child Care (SACC) program is excited to announce the continuation of a great opportunity for students in grades 3-5.

For the third year, students will be able to participate in a Strings 1 beginners class or a Strings 2 advanced class, where they will learn to play the violin, viola, cello or string bass at Clovercroft Elementary School. Children will also get to perform in various venues throughout the year.

“In our program, we see children develop a new skill set,” said WCS SACC Coordinator Leslie Weaver. “Orchestra provides an outlet for those who many times have not found their niche or passion. They find a way to express themselves and develop a love for music and ‘The Arts’.”

The program is open to any Williamson County elementary student in grades 3-5. If younger students have experience, they can also try out to be a part of the program. Parents will be responsible for providing transportation to Clovercroft Elementary (9336 Clovercroft Road, Franklin, TN 37067).

Classes will meet on Monday and Thursday. Strings 1 is scheduled from 4-4:45 p.m. and Strings 2 from 5-5:45 p.m. The cost is $150 a semester for full-time SACC students, $175 for registered SACC drop–in students, and $200 for non-SACC students (registration included). To register, please visit https://old.wcs.edu/before-and-after-school-care-sacc and look under SACC locations and registration.

The first class is on Thursday, September 11, and the deadline to participate is Monday, September 15.
