Spring Station Middle Awarded STS Grant

The Tennessee Arts Commission has awarded Spring Station Middle School a Student Ticket Subsidy (STS) Grant in the amount of $700, thanks to the work of Spring Station Middle Librarian Angelia Seagroves, who applied for the grant.
“Mythology explains where many ideas originate and it is part of the sixth grade curriculum,” said Seagroves. “This program is rooted in mythology, so I am hopeful it will allow students to make these connections as well as become excited and interested in reading.”
The STS Grant is for Runaway Theater’s, The Myth-Adventures of Theseus, which retells the iconic myth of Theseus with the ancient art of shadow puppetry. Theseus is the classic Greek hero who killed the Minotaur (the half-man/half-bull monster) and became king of Athens. This topic was selected since it supports the sixth grade curriculum.
The Myth-Adventures of Theseus is tentatively scheduled for May 11. It is a 45 minute shadow puppet show for all ages.
