Schools Honored at Superintendent’s Banquet

Schools from across the district were honored for their success on July 31 during the Fourth Annual Superintendent’s Banquet.

The event at The Factory in Franklin was a time for celebration as schools were honored for earning WCS the distinction of the highest achieving district in the State of Tennessee for yet another year.

Three schools earned the Superintendent’s Superior Award of Excellence in Academic Achievement including Clovercroft Elementary and Principal Dr. Laura LaChance for a third time; Brentwood Middle School and Principal Bill Harlin for a third time; and Ravenwood High School and Dr. Pam Vaden for the third year in a row.

Three schools earned the Superintendent’s Superior Award of Excellence in Academic Growth including Clovercroft Elementary and Principal Dr. Laura LaChance for the second year in a row; Brentwood Middle and Principal Bill Harlin for the second year in a row; and Ravenwood High School and Dr. Pam Vaden. The honorees will receive a $500 check for each award courtesy of LifeTouch.

A number of schools were recognized for achievements and gains in specific areas. Elementary schools honored include College Grove for Most Math Gain, Most Science Gain and Highest Teacher Attendance; Hillsboro for Most Reading Gain; Clovercroft for Highest Attendance Rate for Students for the second year in a row; and Longview for Most Social Studies Gain.

Middle schools recognized include Fairview for Most Reading Gain; Heritage for Most Math Gain; Spring Station for Most Science Gain; Page for Most Social Studies Gain for the second year in a row; and Grassland for Highest Student Attendance Rate and Highest Teacher Attendance, teacher attendance for the second year in a row.

High schools celebrated include Brentwood for Highest Participation in Advanced Placement for the second year in a row, Most TSSAA Championships and Most National Merit Scholars; Summit for Highest Student Attendance Rate; Page for Highest Teacher Attendance; Franklin for Most Recognition in Fine Arts; and Middle College High for Highest Graduation Rate.

Three schools were honored for closing the gap in the area of special education. The schools received a set of 24 computers for the school. Recipients include Heritage Elementary, Grassland Middle and Middle College High.

The administrators were treated to a meal prepared by the district’s Food Service Department with support provided by Franklin and Summit high schools’ culinary arts students. In addition, Lisa Benton, choir director at Heritage Middle School, played the piano.
