The information below is provided by each school. Schools are listed in alphabetical order according to grade level.
Elementary Schools
Allendale Elementary
Fourth graders at Allendale Elementary School are working hard to learn about the Explorers of the New World, and are completing their 3D science projects of plant and animal cells. In the computer lab, the students have been learning how to use different search engines to learn about animals. They are compiling information on their animals and will use the information to write a report about all they have learned.
Bethesda Elementary
Ms. Amore’s first grade students are happy to be back at school after fall break. They are setting a good example for all other students by following the rules and leading by example. These children are always walking in a straight line and not talking when they are going down the halls. These first grade students are showing their dragon traits which are respect, responsibility, cooperation and best effort every day.
Chapman’s Retreat Elementary
The PTO is having their main fundraiser of the year, the FUN RUN! The event takes place Friday, October 17.
Crockett Elementary
Crockett Elementary fifth graders interviewed for JA BizTown jobs this week. Later this month, they will take a field trip to JA BizTown, where they will work at their BizTown jobs, earn a paycheck, vote, shop and become a part of this fun interactive learning experience.
Fairview Elementary
Second graders at Fairview Elementary are working hard on writing directions. They walked from their classroom to the library and then wrote out directions of how someone would get there. They practiced using order words like first, next, and last and used lots of good details. Then, they read their directions aloud to each other to see if they could get to the library using them. All the students had a great time while learning how to get from a to z.
Grassland Elementary
On Wednesday, October 15, Grassland Elementary School honored its bus drivers for their dedication and hard work with a special breakfast provided by GSCA. The bus drivers received notes of appreciation, pictures and cards. Additionally, Spirit Night is Tuesday, October 21 from 4-7:30 p.m. at Glow Galaxy. A portion of each admission will be donated to GES.
Heritage Elementary
The Heritage Elementary PTO held its third annual “Donuts with Dads” on Friday, October 3. Over 400 dads, granddads and friends were in attendance with their student. Dunkin Donuts, Coffee and Juice were served and students were walked to class by their visitor.
Hillsboro K-8
Hillsboro’s annual Barnaroo event has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Hillsboro! You don’t want to miss this fun event! Pre-order tickets now! Visit www.barnaroo.org. Admission is $7 per attendee, with a $30 maximum for immediate family members.
Hunters Bend Elementary
Fourth graders at Hunters Bend are solving math equations sung manipulatives (Hands-on Equations). The lessons help students conceptualize mathematics. Students are learning how to observe mathematical structure and to reason and communicate mathematics. The visual and kinesthetic approach of Hands-on Equations enables students to literally grasp algebraic concepts concretely, pictorially and then abstractly. School portraits will be coming home soon. Picture retake day is October 28, if your student missed the day or you are not satisfied with your portraits. Kenrose Elementary
Kenrose Elementary School’s kindergarten and first grade classes recently learned about the role of firemen in our community. Students got to explore a fire safety house and sit in a fire truck.
Nolensville Elementary
Nolensville Elementary School will host its annual Walk to School Day Friday, October 24. Parents and community friends are encouraged to join students and staff for this healthy and fun event. We will be observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well. Survivors and those in the fight, please join us. Our theme for this year’s walk is “Taking Strides for HOPE and a HEALTHY ME.” Wear your pink. Even if your child is a bus or car rider they can still join in the fun. Drop them off at the start point, Gregory Park. You may also join in at any intersection we will be passing and board the Nolensville “Walking School Bus.” Special guests will be joining us.
Scales Elementary
Scales Elementary celebrated a successful Invest in Your Child Program with a hamburger and hot dog cookout. Stephanie Manser, music teacher, had all students in fourth and fifth grade participate in a bracket challenge by identifying notes and ledger line notes on the treble clef staff. The bracket progressed in difficulty and each homeroom had a finalist Emma Allen from Sara Turner’s fifth grade won the entire bracket by decoding two words and took home the final prize, a ukulele. Third graders had a visitor, Mark Basenberg, from the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center, to talk about the adoption program and asked students to help build cat boxes a apart of their community service for the shelter.
Trinity Elementary
Trinity Elementary celebrated its second annual Tailgate Week. Physical education teachers Alysia Jenkins and Brittany Smith invited parents to come join in on the fun where students worked on the NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Kick program. This program allows students to experience football fundamentals in a non-contact environment. Vanderbilt University even donated its inflatable star tunnel through which students came into the building!
Walnut Grove Elementary
Walnut Grove celebrated “BE NICE” Day with a “Be NICE” assembly at school. The assembly was all about encouraging students to make good voices throughout their day and the importance of treating each other with kindness and respect. Staff members wanted to inspire students to treat others in the way that they want to be treated; on the bus, in the cafeteria, on the playground, walking in the halls or in their classroom, because “BEing NICE” makes you feel good and paves the way to good school friendships.
Westwood Elementary
In art, grades 3-5 are exploring abstract art – specifically Cubism, as used by Pablo Picasso and others during their early years in stretching their creative imagination and the acceptable boundaries for art. Fifth graders are learning how to identify the theme of a text or poem this week in reading. This week in science, fourth grade students are bringing in their cell projects to share.
Middle Schools
Brentwood Middle
The BMS Bash is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, from 3-6 p.m. The event will take place on the BMS campus. Students are allowed to stay after school for a great afternoon of fun with friends. The cost for this three hour extravaganza will be $20 per student. All proceeds will benefit PBIS and project Beautify BMS. Specifically, BMS would like to update the aesthetics of the main entrance, front conference room and additional teacher/student work spaces. Concessions all be available. Registration and money are due in the counseling office by 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21.
Grassland Middle
It’s time for this year’s fashion show in “la class de espanol!” Spanish students will show off their best duds while their fellow classmates describe what they’re wearing, en espanol!
Heritage Middle
Williamson County Juvenile Court will host a Parental Awareness Campaign titled “Sexting, Texting, and All Things Cyber” on Monday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the Heritage Middle School Gym. Guest speakers will include a representatives from the FBI and the District Attorney’s Office, Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Long and Dr. Jim Wellborn, author of Raising Teens in the 21st Century.
Hillsboro K-8

Sunset Middle
Sunset Middle is hosting a book fair! Starting Friday, October 17, through Friday, October 24, students and parents can stock up on their favorite books! The book fair is open every day from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 23.
Woodland Middle
Students in Ms. Hopkins Language Arts class have been working on a collaborative progressive interactive Writer’s Workshop. Students have added characters and locations from their stories to the class maps so others can use these in their own writing. On Scan and Read Day, students used their BYOT technology to scan QR codes on the maps with secure links to student work on Google Docs so they could read what the classes have been working on. These maps and codes will continue to stay on the wall and be continually updated all year long as the stories progress to a final culminating piece in May.
High Schools
Brentwood High
Brentwood High School is proud to announce the girls all-district soccer team. Congratulations to Jessi Boozer, Jessi Kocina, Addie Puskar and Olivia Winnett. Congratulations to the BHS Volleyball for continuing their winning streak and advancing to State.
Centennial High
Congratulations to seniors Claire Leasure, Cassie Voiles and Lidiya Ogorodnik on being named to the All District Soccer Team. Another congratulations to CHS Junior Jonathan Helton for breaking the Boy’s 5K Cross Country school record. Jonathan raced a 16:31 over the 3.1 mile course. Jonathan also currently holds the school records for the 1600m (4:24) and is a member of the record holding 4x1600m team. CHS CenterStage Theatre is proud to present Alice in Wonderland. The production runs Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door. This year’s production will be performed at Freedom Middle School on New Hwy 96 West in Franklin.
Franklin High
FHS Theatre presents Exit the Body. It will run October 16, 18 and 20, at 7 p.m. and October 19, at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and are $8 for students/seniors, $10 general admission. In other news, the FHS cross country team will compete in TSSAA Region Cross Country meet at Steeplechase Park in Nashville. All Williamson County schools will compete that day. The Franklin Band will also compete on October 25, at Bands of America in the Indianapolis Super Regional at Lucas Oil Stadium. In other news, congratulations to Jessie Harvey of Franklin High’s Girls Soccer team for winning the District Co-Goalkeeper of the Year award!
Page High
Page High School Drama Club is combating hunger through the Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat food drive. This is an international food drive sponsored by the International Thespian Society. Items most needed are peanut butter, rice, beans and boxed meals, although any non-perishable items in non-breakable containers are welcome! Students may bring these items to their homeroom. The food drive ends November 3. Last year, Page High collected 2,157 pounds of food! In other news, on Tuesday, October 21, seniors will be meeting in the afternoon for opportunities with TSAC – Tennessee Student Assistant Corporation. A blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, which will also be senior perks day.
Ravenwood High
Congratulations to the following members of the soccer team who earned district awards: Karlee Paschal won District Player of the Year; McKenzie Firek won Defensive Player of the Year; Laura Cunningham won the Co-Goalkeeper of the Year; Alex Holmes won Offensive Player of the Year; and Jose Londono won Coach of the Year.
Renaissance High
Parent teacher conferences will be held October 21 from 4:45 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Parents should contact the school to sign up for a visitation time.
Summit High
Summit High School students Emily Szymanski and Natalie Rolen were recently selected to the TSSAA District 11 All-District Soccer Team. It is the second time for Szymanski to receive this honor, and the first for freshman Rolen. Both players had a positive impact on leading Summit to a 7-9 record for their second season in the district.
