RHS Marketing Donates Funds to Children’s Organizations

Two organizations that support children will get a financial boost thanks to the ingenuity of Ravenwood High School marketing students.

The school’s Business Marketing Food Fair was held April 17, giving students at RHS the opportunity to face each other in a real-life fundraising competition.

For three weeks, students in Donna Smith and Scott Farrell’s marketing classes worked on brainstorming, product planning, price setting, advertising, forecasting income and a post-sale presentation where they discuss their final net income results.

“The part that the students really seem to enjoy is the execution of their project and bringing their learning into a real life competitive fundraising situation,” said Farrell. “Donna and I are both so proud of the marketing students, not only because the success of the project, but also because each student-lead team brought so much passion to a project that serves others in the community.”

As a result of this year’s event, the students raised approximately $4,400. Of that, $500 is going to support Ravenwood’s “Make A Wish” foundation and $3,900 will go toward the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
