Williamson County School’s newest high school has a leader. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has selected Brentwood Middle Principal Bill Harlin to open and lead Nolensville High School.

Harlin began his career in education with the 2000-01 school year as a teacher at Centennial High. He taught AP European history and world history and served as department chairman of the social studies department until the 2006-07 school year when he was hired as the assistant principal of Brentwood Middle. During the 2009-10 school year, he was named principal of Brentwood Middle.

“Bill is recognized as an educational leader in our district, and I have been pleased with the achievements he and his staff have accomplished at Brentwood Middle,” said Looney. “We can expect that same type of excellence at Nolensville under his leadership.”

While principal at Brentwood Middle, the school has been recognized as the top achieving middle school in WCS for three years and the middle school with the highest growth in the district for two years.

“I look forward to working with the students and parents of Nolensville and eastern Williamson County to develop a state-of-the-art high school which will excel at the highest level in academics, the arts and athletics,” said Harlin. “I also look forward to incorporating the vibrant and dynamic qualities of the greater Nolensville community within Nolensville High School.”

Harlin is a native of Williamson County, raising Tennessee Walking Horses in Franklin at Harlinsdale Farm in his youth. He has a Bachelor’s in history from the University of Mississippi, a Master’s in teaching from Belmont and an administrative endorsement from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is currently pursuing his Ed.D. at Lipscomb University.

Harlin will begin his new role July 1.
