GameDay: WCS Style

Published October 24, 2014

For the first time ever, WCS is proud to present GameDay! Based on the hit ESPN show, the WCS GameDay crew will be headed to the “VIEW” on Friday, October 24, for the cross county football matchup against Page and Fairview high schools.

Both schools broadcasting students will be out in full force, from setting up the set and cameras, to filming to production afterward.

“This is broadcasting at its best,” said Fairview High Broadcasting Teacher Bob King. “People from different schools working together to make a brand-new show in a way that we have never done before. It makes us stretch; it’s nerve-wracking and fun at the same time.

Page High Broadcasting Teacher Terry Flowers agrees.

“I’m all for any opportunity students have outside the classroom to put their skills into practice,” said Flowers. “However, today, being able to work with professionals and broadcasting students from another school side-by-side is the icing on the cake. You cannot design a better learning environment.”

Participation from both Page and Fairview’s student sections is encouraged. GameDay will be located on the grass outside the football locker room. The GameDay crew, which includes District Athletic Director Jeremy Qualls and Tate Mathews, host on 104.5 The Zone, will talk about all the match ups across the WCS Sports Conference and go in-depth on the “Pink Out” Page vs. Fairview game. There will be interviews with the coaches, principals and players.

The show will conclude with the GameDay Crew making their predictions about who they think will win Friday Night’s contests. T-shirts will be thrown out and there will be the best poster and hashtag contests!
