Construction Update – May 2015

Construction crews are staying busy this summer as work continues on several projects across the district.

Summerlyn Drive (Entrance to the Nolensville Campus)

Crews have completed underground utilities which includes water, sewage, gas, electrical, storm water, telephone and cable. The water and sewer lines have all been tested and accepted by the utility district. In addition, concrete curb, gutters and storm water inlets have been installed and are now operational. The crushed limestone base material for the roadway is complete. The asphalt binder and surface courses were installed the week of May 18. Landscaping will be installed once the paving is complete.

Nolensville High School

After experiencing numerous days of inclement weather this winter and spring, contractors are now making up for lost time, and Nolensville High is on track to open in August 2016.

All concrete floor slabs have been placed, completing the foundations. Site utilities are also complete. The second floor concrete slabs are complete in all classroom wings. Load bearing concrete masonry units is complete in sections A, B and C on both floors. The load bearing masonry in sections D and F is at 90 percent completion. Structural steel in sections C and D is at 80 percent completion. Geothermal fields are 90 percent complete. HVAC piping is substantially complete on first floor sections A, B and C. Fire protection is complete in section B and well underway in all other areas. Mechanical systems are underway in sections A, B, C and D. Wall rough in is complete in sections A and B.

Mill Creek Elementary/Middle School

Both Mill Creek Elementary and Mill Creek Middle are on track to open in August 2016.

Site work continues with the removal of excess soil from the site. Underground utilities are approximately 65 percent complete. Foundations are 100 percent complete. Second floor concrete is complete in areas C and D (classrooms), and the auditorium concrete slab is placed. The concrete floors in classrooms wings are placed and masonry is progressing in all areas of the building.

Masonry for gymnasiums, auditorium and kitchen is at final bearing elevation. Bar joists and trusses for gymnasiums, auditoriums and kitchen are on site and were set beginning May 18. Light gauge metal trusses for the main spline, classrooms and administrative areas are being set. The metal roof covering is being installed. Geothermal well fields are now complete.

College Grove Elementary School Classroom Addition

Though the addition has been delayed due to inclement weather, the contractor will be working weekends to maintain the project schedule. The addition is set to open at the start of the 2015-16 school year.

All underground utilities (water, sewer, electrical, condensate lines) foundations and storm water system are installed. The concrete floor slab was placed May 15. Concrete masonry walls began May 20. All structural steel including trusses and bar joists have been delivered to the site.
