Construction Update
Published July 30, 2014
Though hard hats won’t be on any school supply lists, there are some construction projects going on around the district that will continue into the school year. These construction projects include four new auditoriums, the final phase of HVAC and ceiling replacement at Brentwood Middle and the building of Mill Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Nolensville High.
Here’s an update on the progress of this construction.
Brentwood High School Auditorium
Expected to open in January 2015, the project includes a renovation of the Campbell Center (re-lamping, installation of new gymnasium floor, painting and a new bleacher structure) in addition to the new auditorium building. The new gymnasium floor in the Campbell Center is now complete and the proscenium opening has been filled in with a new wall. Lighting should be completed by the end of August. The Campbell Center should be available by the first week in September.
Brentwood Middle School Ceiling Replacement
Construction on the BMS ceiling and HVAC will be complete on August 5, in time for staff and students. The new HVAC system is now operating, and the building is now much more comfortable with this improvement.
Centennial High School Auditorium
Progress keeps moving along at the new Centennial High School Auditorium. Large trusses and joists have been installed at the roofline and the roof decking installation is in progress. The HVAC and electrical are being installed; all structural masonry work has been completed; and the entranceway columns have been placed.
Fairview Middle School Auditorium
Progress continues at FVMS. The concrete floors have been placed for the classroom, stage, backstage dressing areas and the lobby. Most of the concrete masonry construction is complete, and brick veneer installation has started. Bar joists and trusses for the roof will be installed within the next week.
Mill Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Nolensville High
Construction of underground utilities and the access roads from York and Nolensville roads has started on the Nolensville High School site. Bids for the Mill Creek schools and Nolensville High have been opened. Once the bids are reviewed, a contractor will be selected and a contract for construction issued. Construction on this project should begin in mid August. The school complex has a completion date of Fall 2016. Nolensville High will be a reversed floor plan of Summit High.
Woodland Middle School Auditorium
The new auditorium at Woodland Middle School is close to completion and should be ready for students by the first day of school.
