Brentwood Middle Assistant Principal Dr. Brandon Barkley has been chosen to lead the school next year. Barkley will replace Brentwood Middle Principal Bill Harlin who was recently named the principal of Nolensville High School. Barkley has served as assistant principal for the past six years.
“Brandon’s passion for serving the students, parents and staff of the Brentwood Middle community made him a natural choice as principal,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “I am pleased that we are able to promote within our district, and I know that he will continue to build on the greatness he has helped create at Brentwood Middle.”
Barkley began his teaching career in 2004 as an eighth grade math teacher at Hillsboro School where he also coached girls’ soccer. In 2006, he began teaching math at Sunset Middle School. During his time there he was named Sunset Middle School Teacher of the Year and served as the math department chair.
“I am humbled and honored to be the next principal of Brentwood Middle School,” said Barkley. “I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to continue working with the students, parents, teachers and staff of the Brentwood Middle Community. I look forward to working together as we continue building upon the longstanding tradition of excellence that has been established at Brentwood Middle School in academics, the arts, and athletics.”
Barkley holds a Bachelor’s in Mathematics Education from Lee University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.
He will begin his new role July 1.
