What do enjoy the most about your job?
The thing I love most is the storytelling. Whether it’s an important issue that impacts millions or one person with a unique story, I love being able to share that story with the people who watch our show.
What did you enjoy most about your high school experience?
Centennial had a lot of programs and classes that really pushed hands-on learning. Instead of sitting in a classroom reading about broadcasting, I was able to get real-world experience in my field during high school that most kids my age didn’t get until later in college.
What WCS teacher made a difference in your life and how?
My broadcast and film teacher Dawn Marek. She took a lot of her own time outside class to give us opportunities to do things like broadcast the CHS football games or record special projects. She went above and beyond to make sure we all had a chance to reach our potential.
Do you have any advice for current WCS students?
Get involved, early and often. Regardless of your career path, WCS has a lot of chances to get real-world experience early on… chances students in other places would kill to have. That experience not only helps you in the classroom, it helps you jump-start your career.
