Academic All-Star – Westwood Elementary

Westwood Elementary fifth grader Jazmine Gonzalez knows there are three main ingredients to the recipe for academic success: hard work, dedication and perseverance.

Those traits have propelled Jazmine into elite company as she was recently named the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2014-15 school year.

Teachers say the 11-year-old is an enthusiastic learner who’s consistently on the honor roll and is always friendly to her classmates and teachers.

Having attended Westwood since kindergarten, Jazmine says she’s grateful to all the teachers who’ve helped her along the way.

“The teachers here have prepared me for middle school,” said Jazmine.

In her free time, Jazmine enjoys drawing, painting and making crafts. When she graduates high school, she plans to attend culinary school and use her artistic skills to make delicious dishes.

“I’ve known I wanted to be a baker for a while,” said Jazmine. “When I was little I started watching the show Cake Boss and I really enjoyed it.”

Whether she’s baking cakes or solving math problems, Jazmine says she’ll continue to give her all in whatever she does.

“I think it’s important to get a good education because it can lead you to a good path in life,” said Jazmine.
