Academic All-Star – Franklin High

Published April 16, 2015

Franklin High School’s Academic All-Star for the 2014-15 school year is senior Kaylee Lartz. Those who know the 18-year-old describe her as a highly motivated student who always comes to school prepared and ready to learn.

“Kaylee demands the most of herself,” said FHS Counselor Angela Sawyers. “Every day she attends school she gives 100 percent. If she needs help, she asks for help. Kaylee’s attitude toward learning is exceptional.”

Kaylee moved to Franklin from upstate New York a couple of years ago. While the transition was difficult at first, Kaylee says she now feels right at home at FHS.

“The things I’ve enjoyed the most at Franklin are the friends I’ve made and the activities in which I’ve been involved,” said Kaylee. “My favorite activity has been my participation in a student organization called the Movement Club where we raise money for orphans. I’m currently vice president.”

Kaylee is also passionate about special education which she plans to study in college.

“After graduation, I’m using the Tennessee Promise scholarship to attend Columbia State Community College and then I’m going to MTSU to study special education,” said Kaylee. “I want to be a special ed teacher, and I hope to open my own school.”

It’s a dream that motivates Kaylee on a daily basis.

“I have a learning disability so it takes a lot of hard work for me to get good grades,” said Kaylee. “I stay focused because I want to move forward with the future and work with kids when I get older.”
