Academic All-Star – Edmondson Elementary

Published January 9, 2015

Teachers describe 11-year-old Lyndsey Johnson as dedicated, patient and selfless. So it came as no surprise to the teachers and students at Edmondson Elementary when Lyndsey was chosen to be the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2014-15 school year.

“Lyndsey quietly teaches our entire class how to lead with dignity and grace,” said fifth grade teacher Lyndsey Peterman. “She accepts all learning as an opportunity to grow and never gives up even when those opportunities are challenging.”

Lyndsey began attending Edmondson in kindergarten and says her two favorite things about the school are the teachers and the field trips.

“I have two teachers this year: Mrs. Peterman and Mrs. Brady,” said Lyndsey. “Mrs. Peterman knows more about reading and social studies, and Mrs. Brady knows more about science and math, which is my favorite subject.”

Outside of the classroom, Lyndsey enjoys playing softball and spending time with her little brother. When she grows up, Lyndsey says she might like to be a teacher, which would be a perfect fit according to those who know her.

“Lyndsey is the type of individual who has all the traits teachers hope to instill in their students,” said Peterman. “We are fortunate enough to provide the opportunities for her to shine.”
