Williamson County Schools Ranked Among Nation's Best
Published April 25, 2014
Three Williamson County high schools have been named among the nation's best. The Washington Post recently selected Brentwood High School as the third most challenging school in Tennessee and No. 209 nationally. Ravenwood High was ranked fifth in the state and 715th in the United States.
The list, which is compiled each year by education columnist Jay Matthews, included more than 1,900 schools. To compile the rankings, Matthews used an index formula which included the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.

In addition, the US News & World Report recently released its annual listing of America's Best High Schools. Ravenwood High ranked fourth in Tennessee and 392nd in the nation. Page High ranked 11th in the state and 1,227th nationally.
According to US News & World Report, the rankings are determined by evaluating schools in three phases. The first two steps look at overall student performance on state-mandated assessments, as well as how effectively schools educate black, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students. The rankings also consider participation in and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams.
