Approximately 280 new teachers will be joining Williamson County Schools for the 2013-14 school year. The educators participated in New Teacher Induction August 1 and 2 at Franklin High School where they learned about everything from classroom management skills to special education law.
Rachel Kernodle, a former Brentwood High School student and new Brentwood High math teacher, is enthusiastic about teaching in the school she graduated from and says she is eager for the new school year to start.
"I’m definitely excited about working for Williamson County Schools," said Kernodle. “I’m so thankful to be back in the Brentwood community and to give back. I had a really great education here and I am excited to inspire students to love math, but I know I have a lot of work to do to get prepared for next week.”
Linda Carlson has been hired as a counselor at Grassland Middle School. She says she's delighted to be able to teach in the same district her children attend.
“I wanted to teach in Williamson County because of the different technology and the support from the community and parents,” said Carlson. “I am really excited for this school year. I believe in the district and all the things they are doing and now I get to be a part of it.”
