WCS Teams Compete at Regional Science Olympiad

Several WCS teams participated in the Middle Tennessee Regional Science Olympiad competition March 1. Science Olympiad requires students to compete using science knowledge and by applying both science inquiry and engineering skills. Teams earn points by correctly answering questions in all aspects of science, from space and ecology to chemistry and physics.

Middle Schools

Brentwood Middle and Woodland Middle were among the middle school teams to participate in this year's event. Out of 17 middle schools, Woodland Middle placed second and Brentwood placed fourth. Both teams will compete April 12 in the state Science Olympiad in Knoxville.

Brentwood Middle placed fourth. Their coach is Joseph Brinkman.

Woodland Middle placed second. Their coach is Nelson Turner.

High Schools

Students from Brentwood, Franklin and Ravenwood high schools participated in the high school competition. Out of 17 high schools, Brentwood placed second; Ravenwood placed fourth; and Franklin placed sixth. Brentwood and Ravenwood will now advance to compete in the state Science Olympiad April 12.
