WCS Students Advance to National Forensic League Speech and Debate Tournament

The Tennessee District of National Forensic League recently held its National Qualifying Tournament for individual events and debate. The following Williamson County Schools students will advance to the NFL National Speech and Debate Tournament in Kansas City:

  • Alyssa Miller and Andy Gordon from Ravenwood High placed 3rd in Duo Interpretation.
  • Drew Taylor and Nikhil Basutkar from Ravenwood High placed 2nd in Public Forum Debate.
  • Several other Williamson County Schools students were named alternates to the NFL National Tournament:
  • Reilly O’Connell from Ravenwood High in Humorous Interpretation
  • Craig Martin from Brentwood High in International Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Niko Szellan and Eliot Forster-Benson from Ravenwood High in Public Forum Debate

The Tennessee District of NFL will hold a National Qualifying Congress April 5 at Brentwood High School to determine the competitors in the John C. Stennis National Student Congress, which will be held during the NFL National Speech and Debate Tournament in June.

The National Forensic League is America's oldest and largest high school speech and debate honor society. It was established to encourage and motivate American high school students to participate in and become proficient in public speaking.
