WCS Sets New Record for Perfect ACT Scores

Published May 9, 2014

The 2013-14 school year has been one for the record books! Not only did WCS record the highest ACT composite score in the history of the district, but it also led the state in TCAP achievement; set a new record for the number of National Merit Semifinalists; and had more Reward Schools than ever before.

The district can now add one more accomplishment to that list. The graduating class of 2015 has recorded more perfect ACT scores than any other class in WCS history. As of May 9, at least seven Williamson County juniors had earned a perfect 36 composite score on the ACT test. By comparison, the graduating class of 2014 had five students who aced the exam.

Centennial High School Junior Mason Grow and Ravenwood Junior Ethan Riley are the latest students to join the exclusive club. The accomplishment puts them among less than one-tenth of one percent of students taking the ACT nationally who receive a top score.

The ACT exam assesses students' academic readiness for college and consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.

The ACT does not notify school districts regarding perfect scores, therefore it is up to the student to notify his/her school administrator. Congratulations to the seven students listed below.
