WCS Sets New Record for National Merit Semifinalists
Published September 13, 2013
For the second consecutive year, WCS has set a new district record for the number of National Merit Semifinalists. Thirty-eight WCS students were named semifinalists in 2013.
Of the nearly 1.5 million entries, only 16,000 students nationwide earn this prestigious honor each year. These students are eligible for the 8,300 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered in the spring.
In order to become a semifinalist, high school students must score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and meet other high standards set forth by the program.
