WCS Construction Update

Published August 16, 2013

The 2013-14 school year will be an active one for construction crews as work begins on several new projects across the district. Those projects include the construction of four new auditoriums and the completion of work on the HVAC system at Brentwood Middle. Below is a brief update on the various construction projects happening in Williamson County Schools.

Brentwood Middle School

Crews have completed work on Brentwood Middle School's auditorium, which included renovations to the floor, seating, sound, lights and stage (photos below). Construction work on the administrative area, library and two new classrooms has also been completed. In addition, crews finished phase one on the school's HVAC system. Phase two is expected to be completed next summer.

Brentwood High School

Architects are now in the design development phase of a new auditorium for Brentwood High School. Competitive bids from contractors will take place once construction documents have been completed. Construction on the new auditorium is expected to take approximately 11 months.

Centennial High School

Centennial High School will also receive a new auditorium. The design team is now in the process of completing the construction documents, which should happen in the next few weeks. Once the documents have been completed and approved, it will be advertised to contractors for competitive bids. Construction is expected to take approximately 11 months.

Fairview Middle School

The State Fire Marshal is currently reviewing drawings of a new auditorium for Fairview Middle School. The process generally takes three to five weeks. The project will then be advertised to contractors for bid. Construction will take approximately 10 months.

Woodland Middle School

Bids for construction on a new auditorium at Woodland Middle School will be received August 22. A contract for construction will be awarded to the lowest and best bidder. Construction on the auditorium will take approximately 10 months.

Nolensville Area High School

While the district has purchased the land for a new Nolensville area high school, the County Commission has not funded the construction of the building at this time. The projected opening for the high school remains on the School Board's Five Year Capital Outlay Plan as the fall of 2015; however the issue will be up for discussion at the School Board's August 19 meeting as part of a budget request.
