The Summit High School Cafeteria has been awarded the Williamson County Schools Gold Tray of Excellence Award for the 2013-14 school year. The award is given each year to a cafeteria staff that demonstrates excellence in the workplace.
“They have an awesome team here at Summit High," said WCS Food Service Director James Remete. "Their outlook and personality is refreshing. I couldn’t be more proud of what they do here at Summit, and I'm pleased to honor them with this award.”
Jane Sullivan has been the cafeteria manager at Summit since the school opened in 2011. She arrives at the school each day at 5:30 a.m. to prepare approximately 400 meals. While it's a lot of work, Sullivan says she couldn't do it without her wonderful staff.
"This means a lot to me and my department because we work together as a team," said Sullivan. "It’s not just one person, it’s a whole team.”
The cafeteria staff at Summit includes Griselda Sixtos, Angie Queen, Reba Middleton, Beatriz Macias, Alisha Leach, Barbara Jones, Michele Gregory, Kristine Geier and Julie Curtis.
“This award is another example of the great group of folks we have here at Summit High School," said Principal Dr. Charles Farmer. "Jane is phenomenal and her staff just follows her leadership with a positive attitude. They deserve this big time.”
The Gold Tray of Excellence Award will hang on the wall in the Summit High School cafeteria until next year's winner is announced.
