Student Spotlight Awards are given to Williamson County students who placed first in state or national competitions. Each Student Spotlight award winner is recognized before the School Board at its monthly meeting. Listed below are the district's Student Spotlight Award winners for the month of January.
Brentwood High Musicians Named to All State Band
Brentwood High School students Lauren Castor, McKenzie Fetters, Jessica Gehring, Dawn Wu, James Dai and John Kang were named All State musicians. Their band director is Randy Box.
Centennial High Musician Named to All State Band
Centennial High School student Gabriel Collins was recently named an All State musician. His band director is Daniel Ibarra-Scurr.
Centennial High Student Receives Gold Key Award
Centennial High School student Emily Grams won a Gold Key Award for Ceramics and Glass at the 2014 Middle Tennessee Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Her teacher is Elizabeth McIntyre.

Fairview High Athlete Named to All State Team
Fairview High School soccer player Erica Suhrbier was named a member of the 2013 Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team. Her coach is Kevin Sizemore.
Franklin High Artist Wins Gold Key Award
Franklin High School student Vikka Schweer won several awards at this year's regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Her photograph titled The Ante Of Living is one of five American Vision Award nominees, which is considered "best of show." She also received Gold Key Awards for Digital Art and Photography. Her teacher is Melissa Estes.

Regional winners are eligible for scholarships and cash prizes, are part of the exhibition at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, and have their work sent to New York City for national judging.
FHS Musicians Named to 2013-14 Honor Band of America
Three Franklin High School students were honored for becoming members of the 2013-14 Honor Band of America including Cameron Drury, Ryan Fisher and Mikaela Ray. Their band director is David Aydelott.
The Honor Band of America is one of three national honor ensembles that are part of the Music for All National Festival, along with the Honor Orchestra of America and Jazz Band of America. All high school band members are encouraged to audition for the Honor Band of America.
Franklin High Students Earn All State Honors
Frankin High School students Anaea Dossey and Ryan Fisher earned All State honors. Their band director at Franklin High is David Aydelott.
Independence Student Wins Gold Key Award for Design
Independence High School student Alexandra Rutan won a Gold Key Award for Design at this year's regional Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards contest. Her teacher is Stephanie Prewitt.

Page High Musicians Earn All State Honors
Congratulations to Page High School students Clayton Heinecke and Rebecca Singletary. They were recently named to the All State Band. Their band director is Matt Emerson.
Ravenwood Musicians Named to All State Band & Orchestra
Several Ravenwood High School musicians earned the honor of All State including Jennifer Crook, Luan Barajas, Tina Babler, Travis Burhart, Dustin Lin, Titus Cody, Thomas Vines, Taylor Winkler, Jerry O'Dwyer and Kathryn Rigsby. Their band director is Mark Kinzer.

Ravenwood High School student Heather Hernandez won two awards at this year's regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards contest. Her painting titled Self Portrait: Thought won a Gold Key Award and was named an American Vision award nominee, which is considered "best of show." Her teacher at Ravenwood is Margaret Brown.

Ravenwood High School student Morgan Jones won a Gold Key Award at the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition for her photograph titled The Gypsy. Her teacher is Debbie Chessor.

Ravenwood High Student Selected for U.S Senate Youth Program
Ravenwood student Niman Mann was selected for the United States Senate Youth Program, one of two from Tennessee. The United States Senate Youth Program is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service.
The annual program will be held in Washington, D.C., from March 8–15. The student delegates will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition, each delegate will also be awarded a $5,000 College Scholarship for undergraduate studies, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science.
Ravenwood Cheerleaders Win State Championship
The Ravenwood High School Cheerleaders won the 2013 TSSAA State Medium Varsity Cheerleading Championship. Members are Aerial Griffin, Brooke Phillips, Caley Caldwell, Jasmine Archie, Rylie Armstrong, Kaylen Lanius, Olivia Blair, Lauren Martin, Riley Stofka, Claire Webb, Taleigh Wood, Clare Sorenson, Becca Zaves, Bailey Wertz, Kylie Betchley, Sarah Klippenstein, Logan Jordan and Sydney Fordice. Their coach is Stephanie Feyes.
Summit High Student Wins Gold Key Award
Summit High School student Nicole DiCicco won a Gold Key Award for her painting titled Isolation at the regional Scholastic Art Awards competition. Her teacher is Warne Riker.
