Student Spotlight Awards

Student Spotlight Awards are given to Williamson County students who placed first in state or national competitions. Each Student Spotlight award winner is recognized before the School Board at its monthly meeting. Listed below are the district's Student Spotlight Award winners for the month of August.
Independence Senior Aces ACT Test
Independence High School Senior Jarrell Raines earned a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT test. The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, reading, math and science.
"Jarrell’s accomplishment is not only a reflection of what a great young man he is but also shows you his dedication to academic rigor," said IHS Principal Dr. Todd Campbell. "We are very proud of him.”
Summit High Student Wins National Competition
Summit High School student Arianna Ackerman won first place in Prepared Speaking at the National HOSA competition.
HOSA is a national student organization that is designed to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. Arianna's teachers at Summit High are Christina Isong and Denise Asbury.
Brentwood Middle Receives Superintendent's Award
Brentwood Middle School received the Superintendent's Award for Academic Growth at the Third Annual Superintendent's Banquet in Franklin August 1. TN Names Top Schools for Achievement & Growth
More than two dozen Williamson County schools were named 2013 Reward Schools by the Tennessee Department of Education. Under Tennessee's accountability system, Reward Schools are the top five percent of schools in the state for annual growth and the top five percent for academic achievement. Williamson County Schools had a total of 26 schools that earned this distinction.
