Safety Poster Contest Winners Named

Williamson County students got the chance to show off their artistic talents by competing in the Tennessee State Fire Marshal's 2013 Fire Safety Poster Contest.

The contest was designed to help educate children and the community about preventing kitchen fires, which are the leading cause of house fires and injuries in the United States. Participants were asked to design a poster around the theme “Prevent Kitchen Fires," with the winner for each grade level then competing in the state competition.

The Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department visited each participating school and recognized the winners of this year’s contest. The winners received a medallion to honor their accomplishments and a visit from an engine company to help present the awards.

Sunset Middle School sixth grader Connor Groves was awarded first place in his grade at the state competition.
