The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.
If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.
Our high school zone is Summit and my daughter is being grandfathered into Spring Station. At the Spring Station meeting it was asked if the Summit buses could take the grandfathered students to Spring Station since the stops and pick up times are exactly the same. Is this still possible? It would relieve so much pressure for those who have a child at Heritage and another at Spring Station.
School Board Policy regarding transportation for students who have been grandfathered is available on page 3 of http://www.wcs.edu/boardpolicy/sect1/1703.pdf
Why is it okay for WCS to post photos of students at school on their Facebook page, but parents cannot? Does this apply even if the photo is of a friend's child who gives me permission?
We do not encourage parents to take photos of students inside the school building during regular school hours because it increases the likelihood that students whose parents have not signed a media release form could be photographed either intentionally or by accident. We try to be sensitive to the fact that some parents do not want their child’s photo to be published. If you take a photo of your child with another student and post that photo on a social media site, we encourage you to have permission from the other child’s parents to post that photo.
