PTO Leaders Meet with Superintendent-5593

Published January 31, 2014

Williamson County Schools continues to grow at a fast rate. That was one of many topics that was discussed at the January 30 meeting between PTO leaders, principals and Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. Looney told those in attendance that the district gained approximately 100 students this semester and that more growth is on the way.

PTO leaders and principals worked in small groups during the session as they took time to revisit the district's Strategic Plan. Getting additional technology in the hands of students was a common theme across the county. In addition, the parent leaders also heard about opportunities for grant writing, discussed school safety and talked about the frequency of testing.

Looney says he makes it a point to meet with PTO leaders several times a year to discuss some of the important issues facing the district.

"Our PTO leaders are valuable team members," said Looney. "The success of our school district depends on parental involvement. Meetings like this give us a chance to gather input from our parent leaders as we work toward a common goal."
