Local Artist Visits Independence High

Published March 28, 2014

Students at Independence High School recently had the opportunity to learn from a local artist. It's part of the Arts Council of Williamson County's Artist in Residence program which gives students a chance to work with a professional artist while creating an art project that will be displayed at the school.

Local artist Stephen Graham spent several days at IHS as he demonstrated his art form of using wood blocks to create prints. With his help, the students created individual sections of an IHS-themed wood block which will be displayed at the school. In addition, the Arts Council of Williamson County donated tools and equipment to Independence High so students can continue to explore this art form.

Artists and schools interested in participating in the Artist in Residence program for the 2014 fall semester can apply through April 15. Details can be found at www.artscouncilwc.org.
