Former NFL Player Shares Parenting Handbook
Published August 16, 2013
A former NFL player and current WCS parent wants to share some of the lessons he learned on and off the football field with others. Former Atlanta Falcons Wide Receiver Freddie Scott, II is working with the WCS Communications Department to produce a series of videos called the Parenting Playbook.
The idea was born out of Freddie's involvement with the WCS Ambassador program, which is designed to provide business and community leaders with an in depth look at how WCS provides the quality education that brings families and businesses to Williamson County.
"At the end of the program, each ambassador was asked to leverage his or her existing resources to complement their work and support our work at the same time," said WCS Development Director Deb Enright. "With Freddie, we just felt like this would be a natural fit."
In addition to his time spent as a player in the NFL, Scott has served as a national spokesperson for Tony Dungy's All Pro Dad organization and currently works as a transition coach for the NFL. He travels the nation sharing practical keys to success in the areas of family, character development, leadership and conflict resolution.
"I was truly excited when the opportunity presented itself to support the students and families of Williamson County Schools," said Scott. "I'm hopeful that we will see more parents equipped to do the little things that truly make a big difference in the lives of those we love...our children."
The first video in our Parenting Playbook series looks at how parents and students can establish a game plan for a successful school year.
