Construction Update-5711

Published June 20, 2014

The summer is shaping up to be a busy one for construction crews as work continues on several projects across the district. Those projects include the construction of four new auditoriums, the final phase of HVAC and ceiling replacement at Brentwood Middle and the building of Mill Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Nolensville High. Below is a brief update on the various construction projects happening around the district.

Brentwood High School Auditorium

The contractor has completed installing select fill material for the building pad and completed excavation for the sloped floor in front of the stage. Concrete footing layout and excavation began June 19. The contractors are also working on a new parking lot north of the auditorium. A new wood floor has been installed in the Campbell Center and crews are building a new wall to separate the existing stage from the renovated Campbell Center gymnasium.

Brentwood Middle School Ceiling Replacement

The replacement of the ceiling at Brentwood Middle began May 22. Furniture and fixtures have been moved out of classrooms in wings B, C, D and E. Construction started May 26 and it is estimated to be completed by August 5.

Centennial High School Auditorium

Contractors continue to make progress with installation of concrete masonry units for the exterior and interior of the school's new auditorium. Concrete for the building is 100 percent complete with the exception of exterior sidewalks. Storm drainage under the new parking lot is also complete.

Fairview Middle School Auditorium

Concrete footing and rough plumbing is 100 percent complete at the new Fairview Middle School auditorium. Contractors will now focus on laying block, grouting, reinforcing concrete masonry unit cells, sub grading concrete floor slab drains, plumbing and waterproofing. Once that is complete, contractors will place concrete slabs in classrooms and install electricity and plumbing in the concrete masonry unit walls.

Mill Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Nolensville High

The State Fire Marshal is currently reviewing drawings for the two new school buildings that will be going in the Nolensville area. Architects are now making corrections to the construction documents and are continuing to work through environmental site issues with TDEC and U.S. Army Engineers.

Woodland Middle School Auditorium

Woodland Middle School's new auditorium is almost half way done. The concrete masonry unit brick is 100 percent complete, the roof and electrical sky lighting has been installed, and dry wall installation continues throughout the building. The next step is for doors to be installed, painting to be completed, light bars for theater lighting to be installed, and plumbing in bathrooms to be finished. The auditorium is expected to be completed by July 31.
