Below is a list of recent accomplishments by Williamson County students and staff in the areas of academics, athletics and the arts. They are listed in alphabetical order according to school.
Centennial Cheerleaders Win Invitational
Congratulations to the Centennial High School Junior Varsity Competition Cheerleaders for winning the Bluegrass Regional UCA Competition.
Centennial Students Earn Awards at Model UN Conference
Fifty-three Centennial High School students participated in the recent Model UN Conference in Murfreesboro. Will Wesson, Ian Seal, Molly Wells, Daniel Trow and Haddon Alexander each received an award for being Outstanding Delegates.
Grassland Middle Soccer Teams Win WMAA Championships
Grassland Middle School boys and girls varsity soccer teams each took home the WMAA Championship titles.
The boys’ team won for a second consequent year by defeating Sunset Middle by a score of 3-0. Goals were scored by Grayson Sherrell and Sam Case. The defense was led by Cade Jackson, Jack Patton and Cameron Hertz. The varsity team finished the season with a perfect record of 10 wins, 0 losses and 0 ties.
The girls’ soccer team defeated Brentwood Middle School. It was tied 1-1 after Harper White scored a beautiful goal before going to two overtimes. The game eventually went to penalty kicks. Natalie Young and Maddie Deere hit their shots. Caroline DeFranco made it final with the last goal of the game.
Independence High Student to Participate in All-State Choir
Congratulations to Independence High School student Becka Prevette who has been moved from a first alternate position into the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association's All-State Choir.
Becka will be the first girl in Independence High School history to participate in the All-State Choir. Her teacher is MaryLee Atenhan.
Ravenwood High Musician Selected for Honors Orchestra
Ravenwood High School senior Kristina Babler was one of 12 violinists from Middle Tennessee chosen to attend the Tennessee Music Education Association's All-State Honors Orchestra this spring. Allison Cowan is the instructor for the Ravenwood High School strings orchestra.
Ravenwood Model UN Team Earns Multiple Awards at Conference
Ravenwood High School's Model UN teams earned numerous awards and election victories at this year’s YMCA Model United Nations conference.

WCS Students Dominate Titans of Taste Video Contest
Williamson County media students dominated this year's Titans of Taste Video Contest. The annual competition is sponsored by the Tennessee Titans, Purity Milk and the Southeast Dairy Association. Schools from across Middle Tennessee competed in the event which asked students to produce a video publicizing the Titans and Purity Milk.
Brentwood High School students Charlie Pyle and Josh Gracia won first place for their video called Monday Mornings with Purity; Brentwood High students Thomas Wolf and Hamza Khalid won second place for their video titled The Purity Way of Life; Independence High School student Mary Jane Aycock won third place for her video; and Brentwood High School student Marshall Traviolo won fourth place for his video titled Work for the Win.
All of the finalists were honored at a luncheon at LP Field December 5. The two first place winners also received a $500 college scholarship, along with two Titans tickets and sideline passes. In addition, the Brentwood High School media program received a check for $1,000.
WCS Educators Honored as Hometown Heroes
Page High Math Teacher Laurie Mauldin (pictured), Walnut Grove Teacher Karen Wight and retired Fairview Middle Teacher Kathy Stevens were recently honored in front of thousands by the Nashville Predators.
The three educators were among several Teachers of the Year from around Middle Tennessee who were invited to attend "Hometown Heroes" night November 25 at the Predators' game versus Phoenix and be recognized on the Jumbotron during the first period.
