Below is a list of recent accomplishments by Williamson County students and staff in the areas of academics, athletics and the arts. They are listed in alphabetical order according to school.

Brentwood Middle Wins Volleyball Championship

Congratulations to the Brentwood Middle Lady Vikings volleyball team, who winning first place in the WMAA tournament October 2. Aubry Jantzi and Sydney Rexford were named to the All-Tournament Team. Garrett Joiner was named the Tournament MVP. Their season record was 23-2.

 

Centennial Cross Country Teams Perform Well at Meet

The Centennial High School Cross Country Team had a strong showing at the AF Bridges Meet at Steeplechase September 28. The Centennial boys finished first and the girls finished second out of 24 local teams.

 

CHS Student Named Honorary Captain for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Football Team

He's still in high school, but Centennial High student Jack Johnson has already experienced something few college students can claim. On September 14, Jack was named captain of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's football team for their game against Austin Peay.

In addition to being named captain, Jack signed a national letter of intent during a special ceremony with the team. He also got to flip the coin before kick-off and celebrate with the players following their 42-10 win over the Governors.

Jack, who is autistic, became a part of the Mocs through the Friends of Jaclyn program which seeks to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors. Jack was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2010. CLICK HERE to watch a video of Jack's visit to UTC.

 

Grassland Middle Boys Cross Country Wins County Title

For the second year in a row, the Grassland Middle School boys' cross country team dominated the field to take the overall championship at the WMAA Championship meet in Lieper's Fork. For the season, Grassland's boys won every race in which they competed.

Eighth grader Davis Holliday scorched the mile-and-a-half course with a time of 7 minutes and 31 seconds to finish first out of 60 runners. He was also the first-place finisher in every race he ran this season. Job Dooley, Alex Disney, Josh McMurray and Benson Rubio all performed well to help the Generals win the title.

 

 

Page Middle Girls Win Golf Tournament

Congratulations to Page Middle School golfers Meleah Orr, McKenzie Duby and Sydney Holt for their second place finish in the WMAA Girls Golf Tournament. Out of approximately three dozen players, Meleah and McKenzie shot the second lowest rounds of the tournament.

 

Summit High Students Win HOSA Awards

The Summit High School HOSA team, consisting of eight students, went to the National Leadership Conference over the summer and returned with several awards.

The Medical Reserve Corps team consisting of Savannah Elliott, Kelly Meade, Justin Marsee and Madison Blackstock finished in the top 10 in the nation. In addition, Arianna Ackerman won first place in the nation in Prepared Speaking. Summit’s Health Science Teachers and HOSA sponsors are Christina Isong and Denise Asbury.

 

Woodland Middle Students Wins Cross Country Race

Woodland Middle School eighth grader Annika Sleenhof blew away the competition at this year's WMAA Cross Country Meet. Annika won first place with a time of 8 minutes and 45 seconds.

 

WMS Volleyball Team Crowned Tourney Champs

Congratulations to the Woodland Middle School varsity volleyball team for winning the 2013 Smash Championship.
