2014 Battle of the Books Champion Crowned

Heritage Middle School claimed the title of champion of the 2014 Williamson County Schools Battle of the Books March 11 at the Hillsboro Performing Arts Center. Eight WCS middle schools participated in the Battle of the Books, held for the first time in Hillsboro’s new facility.

Heritage’s team, coached by teacher Paula Olander, included Marel Smietana, captain; Rebekah Christopher, Cate Howell, Brent Lane, Lauren Redmon and Garrett Schneider. Other students participating in the annual Battle of the Books were:

Brentwood Middle School: Cade McDowell, Ridaa Fatima, Ginger Buck, Sarah Miller, Shri Reddy, captain; and Pardhav Polararapu. Coach Shannon Meadows, assisted by Kathy Dooley-Smith.

Fairview Middle School: David Wallace, Trevor Squires, Maggie McGowan, captain; Gabby Harder, Emily Maher, and Jasmine Whitehouse. Coach Shannon Luna.

Grassland Middle School: Nik Bergman, Izzy Bohn, captain; Evie Cook, Travor Pillow, Will Stockdale, David Xu, and alternate Mary Rooker. Coach Susan Oldham.

Hillsboro Middle School: Ryley Menges, Christian Darr, Josh Brandt, Hunter Jones, Riley Coleman, Michelangelo Hooghkirk. Coach Lizzy Russell.

Page Middle School: Morgan Evans, captain; Emily Stanko, Molly Earnest, Kelsey Moore, Karina Rovey, and Archer Farrell. Coach Julie Caudle.

Sunset Middle School: Sophie Barton, captain; Truman McDaniel, Elyse Bartleson, Parker Carwell, Joel Barnes, and Evan Hiatt. Coach Laura Kleman.

Woodland Middle School: Alexis Enderle, Kevin Frost, Nolan McGinnity, Adriel Nuta, Zoe Rozine, Spencer Townes, and Celine Fawaz, alternate. Coach Lindsey Anderson.
