Winstead Elementary School Assistant Principal Kathy Wells has been named principal of the school beginning January 7, 2013. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcement today. Wells replaces Connie Kinder who announced her retirement earlier this year.
“Kathy has established relationships with the students, parents and staff at Winstead which will help make a seamless transition at the semester,” said Looney. “She is a well-respected educational leader, and I know she will continue to move Winstead in a positive direction.”
Wells has served as assistant principal at Winstead since 2007. Prior to that time she was a Title I/Reading Recovery teacher at Fairview Elementary and Hillsboro School. She began her teaching career in Mississippi. Wells and her husband, Steven, raised “four wonderful children in the Williamson County School System.”
“I am honored to be appointed as Winstead Elementary’s principal,” said Wells. “Winstead is a very special elementary school where the parents, staff and students collaborate to help students reach their maximum capacity in life. My passion is to build relationships, develop a love for learning and provide the best possible educational experiences for all students.”
Wells earned a Bachelor’s in Education from Mississippi University for Women and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
