WCSTube Showcases Student Work

Published October 25, 2012

An exciting new tool is changing the way Williamson County Schools media production students share their work with others. It's called WCSTube and its purpose is to provide students with a safe and easy way to broadcast their work online.

Unlike YouTube which allows anyone to post videos, high school media teachers and members of the WCS Communications Department are the only ones who can upload videos to WCSTube. Once a video has been uploaded, users can email the link to friends, embed the video in a web page or post the video on Facebook.

WCSTube is divided into different categories. Each high school media program has its own category. There is also a category for IN FOCUS videos and one for WC-TV School Shows. In addition, a search engine allows visitors to easily search for a specific video.

"Students want to share their work with friends and family," said Brentwood High Media Teacher Ronnie Adcock. "Online is the way to go and WCSTube is a great way to make that happen."

Schools not only post their news announcements on WCSTube, but some have also uploaded music videos, band performances and sporting events. The high school media teachers say they're excited about the possibilities this new tool provides.

"WCSTube has basically transformed my class this year," said Independence High Media Teacher Matt Balzer. "We now have a way to instantly broadcast our work. Every week our news is put online so that anyone can watch it."
