The Williamson County School Board voted to extend Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney's contract at its January 22 meeting. His contract was extended to January 15, 2017, the longest possible contract allowed by law. Looney began working for the district in December, 2009.
The Board also discussed the results of Looney's annual evaluation at Monday's meeting. Looney was called “an exemplary superintendent” by the Board. He received high marks from the group on six specific goal areas. They include:
- The superintendent will lead the district to an increase in the average composite ACT score of .30.
- The superintendent will lead the school district to a full implementation of BYOT [Bring Your Own Technology] at all schools in the district.
- The superintendent will lead the district to improvement of 5 percent on TCAP scores as measured by the percentage of proficient and advanced students.
- The superintendent will successfully present a comprehensive plan for adoption relating to the creation of an Educational Foundation.
- The superintendent will develop and present an incentive plan to recruit hard to fill positions in the district.
- The superintendent will develop a tracking system to gauge student participation in extracurricular activities using 2011-12 as a baseline year.
