WCS Students Turn Discarded Items into Art

Published April 4, 2013

One person's trash is another person's treasure. The old saying certainly rings true for dozens of Williamson County students, who recently spent hours turning used soda bottles and other items into works of art.

It's all part of the Keep Williamson Beautiful Recycled Sculpture Art Contest. This year's Rock Around the Fair theme required students to work either individually or in a group to create a sculpture made entirely out of recycled plastics. The peices will be put on display at the 2013 Williamson County Fair.

Students competed for cash prizes for their school's art program. Bethesda Elementary received a total of $250; Edmondson Elementary received $400; Kenrose Elementary received $100; Longview Elementary received $100; and Scales Elementary received $150.
