WCS Students Recognized at Scholastic Art Awards
Published January 24, 2013
Dozens of Williamson County students will soon be honored at a reception for the 2013 Scholastic Art Award regional winners. The Scholastic Art Awards is one of the oldest and most prestigious student art competitions in the country.
The awards reception to honor Gold and Silver Key winners and their teachers will be held at the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art Saturday, February 2. Regional winners are eligible for scholarships and cash prizes, are part of the exhibition at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, and have their work sent to New York City for national judging.
This year's winners include Independence High School Student Charlotte LaCroix. She received the American Vision Award for her Remember When… photograph. The American Vision Award is considered “best of show” and is only awarded to five pieces.
The Scholastic exhibition will be on view at Cheekwood in Massey Auditorium from February 1 through March 3. Select this LINK to view a complete list of all the WCS winners.
