WCS Students Meet TN Legislators

Several Williamson County students got an up close look at democracy in action while recently participating in Disability Day on the Hill. Students in Fairview High School's transition program, along with a student from Page High, were among those who traveled to Nashville for this special event.
The students made their way to Capitol Hill where they met State Senator Jack Johnson, State Representative Charles Sargent and State Representative Glen Casada. The students asked the legislators a number of questions relating to families with disabilities and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
"We prepare our students beforehand so that the day is worthwhile," said Fairview High School Transition Teacher Gina Brown. "They enjoyed meeting everyone and they were wonderful representatives of the county. I was really proud of them."
The group was sponsored by Arc of Williamson County. Disability Day on the Hill is an annual event that rotates each year among Transition II students from across the county.
