WCS Students Compete in Robotics Competition

Published October 25, 2012

Students from Heritage Middle and Independence High schools were among those competing at this year's Music City BEST Robotics Competition. BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is a national six-week competition, that's designed to interest high school students in possible engineering careers.

The annual contest was held October 20 at Lipscomb University and featured 16 robotics teams from across Middle Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. In addition to building a robot, each team was required to program the robot's remote-control system, build a booth advertising the robot, write a research paper, design a t-shirt and create a video relating to their project.

Both Williamson County teams had strong showings a Saturday's event, which was sponsored by Nissan. The winners will move on to the south regional competition in December.
