WCS Sets District Record for National Merit Finalists

Published February 7, 2013

It's official! Williamson County Schools has set a new district record for the number of National Merit Finalists. Thirty-four WCS students received the honor this year.

Of the nearly 1.5 million entries, only 15,000 students nationwide earn this prestigious honor each year. In order to become a finalist, high school students must score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and meet other high standards set forth by the program.

"I am so proud of the accomplishments of these students," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. "In addition, this achievement is a testament to our fabulous parents, teachers and school staffs."
