Three Williamson County educators were recently recognized by the Tennessee Association of Student Councils (TASC). The organization named Ravenwood High School Principal Dr. Pam Vaden Administrator of the Year, Ravenwood Math Teacher Cyndy Howes High School Advisor of the Year and Brentwood Middle School Teacher Kristi Coble Middle School Advisor of the Year.
The announcement was made March 3 at the TASC state convention. Howes says her involvement with the student council has been one of the highlights of her career.
"I so enjoy the young men and women that I work with and have worked with over the past 17 years as a council advisor," said Howes. "One of the greatest joys I have had as a teacher is being able to work with and help encourage our students to excel as leaders."
It's a sentiment that is shared by Coble, who says she's grateful for the opportunity to work with such outstanding student leaders at Brentwood Middle School.
"I always tell the kids that this is not my organization; it is theirs," said Coble. "They have created a legacy of powerful student leaders that are going on to do great things. They are making a true difference not only in their schools but in their community."
In addition to leadership training, TASC gives students from across the state a platform to share ideas and inspire each other to make a positive difference in their local schools and communities.
