Student Spotlight Awards are given to Williamson County students who placed first in state or national competitions. Each Student Spotlight award winner is recognized before the School Board at their monthly meeting. Listed below are the district's Student Spotlight Award winners for the month of April.

BMS Student Council Receives 4 STAR Council Award

The Brentwood Middle School Student Council recently received the 4 STAR Council Award at the annual Tennessee Association of Student Councils state conference. Their sponsor is Kristi Coble.

Brentwood Middle Student Wins TASC Essay Contest

Brentwood Middle School student Annie Paris received a special award at this year's Tennessee Association of Student Councils state conference. Annie won the top prize in this year's Essay Category. Her sponsor is Kristi Coble.

Brentwood Middle Student Earns Special Honor at TASC Conference

Brentwood Middle School student Madison Young received a special award at this year's Tennessee Association of Student Councils state conference. Madison was given the Above and Beyond Member award. Her sponsor is Kristi Coble.

Brentwood Middle School student Zane Coggin received a special award at this year's Tennessee Association of Student Councils state conference. Zane was named Member of the Year. His sponsor is Kristi Coble.

Brentwood High Student Aces ACT Test

Brentwood High School's Ruth Dunn recently received a perfect score on the ACT exam, which was given to all high school juniors in March.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.

According to ACT officials, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score.

Brentwood High Student Achieves Perfection on ACT Test

Brentwood High School student Joyce Kang received a perfect score on the ACT exam, which was given to all high school juniors in March. According to officials, only one-tenth of one percent receive a perfect ACT score.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.

According to ACT officials, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score.

Brentwood High Student Wins THSPA Award

Brentwood High School student Carolina Cerrato won first place for Best Short Story at the Tennessee High School Press Association State Convention in March.

The THSPA has a history of gathering students from newspaper, broadcasting and literature programs across the state and recognizing achievement in a variety of fields. Carolina’s teacher at Brentwood High School is Athena Phillips.

Fairview Middle Student Finishes First at State TSA Competition

Congratulations to Fairview Middle School student Blake McKinney. He won first place in Multimedia Production at the Tennessee TSA competition. His teacher is Sara Reynolds.

Franklin High School’s percussion ensemble performed at the 22nd annual Music for All National Concert Festival. The festival features the best high school bands and orchestras in the country. Their teacher is Michael Holland.

Grassland Middle Student Wins National Recognition

Grassland Middle School student Lydia Suttle recently won a National Gold Key Award in the personal essay category of the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest. Her teacher is Cindy Pons.

The Scholastic Art and Writing competition was created to foster creativity through competition in artistic categories.

Page High Students Win First at FCCLA Competition

Page High School students Molly Hinesley and Abbey Hill won first place in Entrepreneurship at this year’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) state competition.

FCCLA takes steps to organize students enrolled in family and consumer science classes to foster excellence through competition. Molly and Abbey’s teacher is Amy Hart.

Ravenwood High School’s concert band performed at the 22nd annual Music for All National Concert Festival. The festival features the best high school bands and orchestras in the country. Ravenwood High School's Band Director is Mark Kinzer.

Ravenwood Student Wins Big at Tennessee Junior Classical League Competition

Ravenwood High School student Alison Gibson recently competed in the state championships of the Tennessee Junior Classical League.

The Junior Classical League is comprised of students with an education in Latin, Greek or Classical studies from across the world in a variety of fields from linguistics to mathematics and the arts.

Gibson won first place in Best Costume Female Mythological, Ninth Grade Poetry and Graphic Arts – Acrylics and Oils. Her teacher is Jason Nabors.

Ravenwood Student Finishes First at TJCL Competition

Ravenwood High School student Rohan Tummala recently competed in the state championships of the Tennessee Junior Classical League.

The Junior Classical League is comprised of students with an education in Latin, Greek or Classical studies from across the world in a variety of fields from linguistics to mathematics and the arts.

Tummala won first place in Derivatives Level I and Principal Parts Bee. His teacher is Jason Nabors.

Ravenwood High School student Bayan Kharamzmi won first place in Hotel and Lodging Management at the Tennessee State DECA Competition. His teacher is Donna Smith.

DECA is a program that educates students about the marketing and business world while providing them with an opportunity to compete with fellow students.

Summit High Students Win State Culinary Arts Competition

Summit High School sophomores Olivia Chastain, Caroline Montgomery and Alma Garcia recently participated in the State Culinary Arts Competition, which brings together culinary students across the state to show their skills. The three students competed against juniors and seniors from across the state and ended up winning the championship. Their teacher is Marsha Johnson.
